Senator Chesney’s IPASS on Demand Events Serve over 850 people in Two Days
The response to my IPASS on Demand events continues to be tremendous. Last week I hosted a mobile team from the Illinois Tollway for events held in Freeport and Machesney Park, and during the two days more than 850 of my constituents switched out their plastic IPASS transponders for the new sticker technology.
Residents have two more opportunities this year to attend IPASS on Demand events in the 45th District, with one of those scheduled for TODAY, December 9.
- Monday, December 9: Elizabeth Village Hall, 200 East Myrtle Street, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Monday, December 16: Village of Kirkland- Resource One Bank, 414 Main Street, 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM
I am in the process of developing the outreach events calendar for 2025, and will continue to host these IPASS on Demand events as long as interest remains high. As future events are scheduled they will be shared in newsletters and on the Events page of my legislative website.
Chesney to Host Pet Adoption Fair on December 14
As a reminder, this Saturday, December 14, I am partnering with the Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport for a Pet Adoption Fair. We’ll be at the humane society from noon until 2:30, and those who attend can interact with pets available for adoption. Forever Friends will also be offering half-price cat adoptions during the event.
The Friends Forever Humane Society is located at 966 W. Rudy Road in Freeport. Stop by and say hello if you’re interested in finding your new best four-legged friend.
Illinois Landed Among the Lower-Ranking States in Tax Competitiveness
A recent study by the Tax Foundation highlights Illinois’ challenges with tax competitiveness, ranking the state 37th overall in its State Tax Competitiveness Index. The annual report evaluates states across five tax categories, noting that states with poor rankings, like Illinois, often share high, complex, and non-neutral tax systems. In contrast, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Alaska rank highest, showcasing simpler, pro-growth tax policies.
Illinois’ high taxes are a direct result of actions taken by Governor Pritzker and his allies. As you know, Governor Pritzker recently signed into law a billion-dollar tax increase to fund his programs, which allocate a billion dollars per year for services for migrants and illegal immigrants.
Chesney Meets with Agriculture Advisory Committee
With the fall harvest complete, last week I held the final meeting of the year of my Agriculture Advisory Committee. We gathered in Freeport and discussed a variety of issues and talked about legislation that passed this year and what to expect when the legislature reconvenes in January.
This group is highly beneficial and I appreciate the depth of knowledge they bring to our meetings. They provide expert advice and insight that helps me represent the thousands of farmers who live in the 45th District and help to ensure agricultural policies are practical and tailored to local conditions. It is a valued group of stakeholders and it is a privilege to work with and learn from them. Together, our mission is to keep Agriculture as the top industry in Illinois.
