Senator Chesney Launches Summer Reading Program

State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) is encouraging local children in the 45th District who will enter grades 1-6 in the fall to complete his summer reading challenge. Participants are asked to read eight books during their summer break from school and return their reading logs to the Senator’s office by August 4, 2023. Those who complete the challenge will receive a special Senate recognition and will be invited to an ice cream party to celebrate their reading success.

“My summer reading program is a fun way to encourage reading throughout the summer break,” said Chesney. “Reading logs are available at District 45 Libraries, at schools, and many were mailed to families in the District. I look forward to meeting the young readers and congratulating them for their success at our ice cream party.”
