Senator Andrew Chesney Named “Friend of Agriculture” by Illinois Farm Bureau

In recognition of his advocacy on behalf of the farming and agriculture community in Northwest Illinois, State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) has received the “Friend of Agriculture” award from the Illinois Farm Bureau. Chesney received the award at a recent event at Shedd Farms in Rockton, with IL Farm Bureau District Two Director Brent Pollard, Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau Legislative Chair Kevin Shedd, and Winnebago-Boone Farm Bureau President John Mitchell presenting it.

“It is an honor to receive this award from leaders of the Farm Bureaus in this region,” said Chesney. “Agriculture is our top industry in Illinois, and Northwest Illinois is home to some of the richest farmland in the country. As a legislator and member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, I am committed to helping our farmers with their goal of improving food production practices and ensuring a plentiful and safe food supply.”

Legislators receiving this award recognize the far-reaching benefits of Illinois’ agricultural products and the important role farmers play in providing quality food, fiber and fuel for the state, nation, and world.

“Agriculture is a primary driver of the Illinois economy, and efforts that support our farmers are vitally important,” said Chesney. “Nearly two million Illinoisans are employed in the agriculture industry, and as a legislator I am committed to helping farmers thrive.”
