I recently stopped by Machesney Park to meet with Mayor Steve Johnson and Village Administrator James Richter to get an update on what is happening in the community and to hear directly from local leadership.
During our conversation, we discussed the growth taking place in the area and the general direction the village is heading as it continues to plan for the future. It was helpful to hear about ongoing efforts to support the community and ensure Machesney Park remains a strong place for families and businesses.
We also talked about legislative concerns and the challenges local governments face, as well as how the state can be a better partner in supporting responsible growth and long-term development. These conversations are important to making sure decisions made in Springfield reflect the needs of local communities.
Mayor Johnson and Administrator Richter have done great work in Machesney Park. I look forward to continuing to work together on issues important to our community.
