Newly elected State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) was sworn into office on Wednesday as the new representative voice of Illinois’ 45th Senate District in Northwest Illinois. Sen. Chesney took his oath of office at a noon ceremony held at the Old Illinois State Capitol in Springfield with his wife Kelly and other close family members looking on.
“It is a privilege to join the Senate Republican caucus, where I can represent the conservative values of those living in Northwestern Illinois,” said Sen. Chesney. “I will be a vocal supporter of issues that are important to the hardworking people of the 45th District, and I will fight hard against legislation that threatens people’s personal freedoms and constitutional rights.”
The Senator’s agenda for the 103rd General Assembly also includes a commitment to address political corruption, to fight for meaningful property tax relief, and to fiercely defend the men and women of law enforcement.
Sen. Chesney joins the Senate Republican Caucus after serving for the last four years in the Illinois House of Representatives, and looks forward to bringing his no-nonsense approach to lawmaking to the upper chamber. He is one of 19 Republicans who will serve in the Senate during the 103rd General Assembly.
“It is an honor to be elected to this position, and I plan to be a tireless advocate for my constituents,” he said. “I’m ready to get to work.”
The 45th Senate District is comprised of all or parts of JoDaviess, Stephenson, Winnebago, Boone, Carroll, DeKalb, and Ogle Counties.
