Andrew Chesney

ILLINOIS STATE SENATOR
45TH DISTRICT

Biography:

On November 8, 2022, Andrew Chesney was elected to serve as
Senator for the 45th District of the State of Illinois. He was
previously the State Representative for the 89th District for the
State of Illinois and prior to serving in the Illinois General Assembly he was elected
to serve as the Alderman at Large for the City of Freeport.

While serving on the Freeport City Council, Chesney built a
reputation as a strong advocate for increased funding for its decaying public
infrastructure, blight reduction, and law enforcement.

Senator Chesney loves Illinois and cares passionately about our
state’s future and is a champion for its Northwest Illinois values. As a
tireless advocate for the hardworking men and women of Northwest Illinois he
has been a leading voice for the elimination of corruption in state government
and the accountability of elected officials as a sponsor of ethics reform
legislation. Chesney was one of the three Petitioners who officially launched
the internal special investigation committee of former Speaker of the House
Mike Madigan.

As Senator, Chesney is a conservative voice in Springfield, a
defender of Second Amendment rights, personal freedom, the men and women of law
enforcement and the rights of parents to make decisions affecting their
children’s health, education and welfare.

While maintaining a strong fiscal conservative voting record, Chesney
has chosen to protect the families of Northwest Illinois and to not support
increased taxation or use fees. While serving in the House of Representatives,
Chesney was the author and Chief Sponsor of the Bill that banned the
exploitation and sale of dogs from Puppy Mills that proliferated within the
State of Illinois.

Andrew Chesney’s story is a true Illinois story. Born and raised
in Shannon, Illinois, he graduated from Eastland High School, earned his
bachelor degree from Arizona State University and returned to Illinois to
Freeport where he now lives with his wife Kelly. Together, they have an adult son, Nicholas. They also enjoy their two dogs, Hector and Rufus.
