Once again, Illinois Democrats and their weak leader, Gov. JB Pritzker, are responsible for another preventable tragedy. Their failed, anti-American immigration policies have cost another innocent life.
In the early morning hours of March 19, Sheridan Gorman, a young woman with her whole future ahead of her and a freshman at Loyola University Chicago, went for a walk to the pier at Tobey Prinz Beach near campus. What should have been a simple, carefree moment turned into something unthinkable.
Sheridan was shot and killed by an illegal immigrant, Jose Medina-Medina, someone who never should have been in this country in the first place. Reports indicate he had a documented criminal history, failed to appear in court, and had an outstanding warrant for more than two years. Yet he was still here.
That is not an accident. That is a failure of leadership.
A family is now grieving the loss of their daughter. A young life full of promise has been stolen.
Make no mistake, the blood is on the hands of Gov. Pritzker and Illinois Democrats.
Their policies put criminals ahead of law-abiding citizens, and innocent people are paying the price.
It’s time to say enough. The TRUST Act and any law that prioritizes those here illegally over the people of Illinois must be repealed.
We cannot bring Sheridan back, but we can make sure this never happens again.
