Senator Andrew Chesney and Machesney Park Mayor Steve Johnson to Host FREE Community Shred Event

In an effort to help residents safely dispose of personal documents and protect themselves from identity theft, State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) and Machesney Park Mayor Steve Johnson are hosting a free community shred event on Saturday, May 10 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Machesney Park Town Center. The shred truck will be stationed in the parking lot in front of the former JCPenney entrance.

“As we continue to see growing concerns about identity theft and personal data security, providing a secure and convenient way for residents to dispose of sensitive documents is more important than ever,” said Senator Chesney. “I’m proud to bring this free service to the community and give people a safe way to protect themselves and their families.”

Residents are encouraged to bring old bank statements, tax documents, medical records, and other paper materials that contain personal information. There is a limit of two banker boxes per vehicle.
