As former President Donald J. Trump celebrates his first 100 days back in office, Illinois State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) is highlighting several of the President’s key actions he believes have already delivered tangible benefits for the state of Illinois.
“President Trump has done more to improve the lives of everyday Americans and Illinoisans than any modern president,” said Senator Chesney. “In just three months, he’s delivered on his promises by taking bold actions that challenge the woke ideology and overreach of the Biden-Harris administration and restore common sense to government.”
Unprecedented Border Security and Impact on Illinois
Senator Chesney began by emphasizing the administration’s aggressive approach to border security. According to Chesney, a reported 95% reduction in illegal border crossings has directly benefited Illinois taxpayers and communities.
“The Trump administration’s border security measures are not only securing the southern border but are also making Illinois safer,” said Chesney. “Fewer illegal immigrants are entering the state, which eases the burden on taxpayer-funded services. Additionally, by deporting violent illegal immigrants, President Trump is making our streets safer, and that’s something every Illinois resident can appreciate.”
Dismantling DEI Policies in Education
Chesney also applauded Trump’s executive order banning divisive Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies in federally funded schools. He noted that, despite resistance from some Illinois leaders, local educational institutions have begun to follow the President’s lead.
“While Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and his Superintendent of Education may be pushing back, I’m seeing real change on the ground,” Chesney remarked. “The community college in my district is already phasing out DEI programs, and the response from students and families has been overwhelmingly supportive. Schools should be places of education, not political indoctrination.”
Protecting Women’s Sports and Spaces
Another significant achievement highlighted by Chesney is Trump’s executive order banning biological males from competing in women’s sports or using women’s locker rooms and bathrooms.
“President Trump’s executive order has shined a much-needed spotlight on an issue that many didn’t even know was happening,” Chesney said. “Parents across Illinois are now aware of the situation, and they are demanding change. This is about fairness, safety, and protecting the rights of girls and women.”
Government Efficiency and Economic Growth
Chesney expressed optimism regarding the strides being made by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), emphasizing that efforts to eliminate waste and fraud in federal agencies will ultimately lead to a more streamlined government. He believes this will ensure that financial resources are better directed toward supporting vulnerable populations in every state who need assistance. Additionally, Chesney highlighted the promising impact of tariffs, noting that many American businesses are already reconfiguring their supply chains to source more domestically. He anticipates that, over time, jobs previously lost to foreign countries will return to the United States— and to Illinois— boosting local economies and providing more employment opportunities.
Chesney concluded by praising President Trump’s leadership and commitment to delivering on promises. “These policies are already producing real results in Illinois,” he said. “After years of decline under radical progressive leadership, we now have a president who is putting families first, restoring order, and putting Illinois and America back on the right path.”
