IPASS on Demand Returns to Freeport on January 23
As promised, I am bringing the popular IPASS on Demand events back to the 45th District. The first event of 2025 is scheduled in Freeport on Thursday, January 23. At the December IPASS event held in Freeport, over 600 people attended and switched out their plastic IPASS transponders for the new sticker technology.
Officials from the Illinois Tollway will be on hand to help people make the switch without disruption to their IPASS account activity. Along with providing this service, the tollway officials can help people with questions they may have about their IPASS account and with ‘Pay by Plate’ issues.
Thursday, January 23, 3:00 – 7:00 PM
Highland Community College, Conference Center
2998 W. Pearl City Road, Freeport
Co-Host: Stephenson County Board Chairman Scott Helms
Once activated, the sticker tag can be used on the Illinois tollway and on E-Z Pass roadways in other states within 24 hours of activation. There is no deposit required for the sticker and the $10 transponder deposit that was paid when a transponder was purchased will transfer to the new account when it is activated.
Those who plan to attend should bring their plastic transponders inside with them and also make note of their license plate number. This will help ensure quick service.

Protecting Illinois Families: GOP Opposes Legalizing Prostitution
Believe it or not, legislation has been filed by Senate and House Democrats to legalize prostitution in the State of Illinois. This is just one more example of the growing disconnect between Democrat lawmakers and the everyday challenges families face. Unsurprisingly, the proposal has ignited an intense debate. I stand with families that embrace traditional family values and will fiercely oppose this legislation if it is brought to the Senate floor.
Frustration over the Democrats’ harmful priorities is growing, and people are increasing their call for real leadership in addressing serious issues plaguing our state, like the high cost of living and public safety. If passed and signed into law, Illinois would become the first state to legalize prostitution.

Senator Chesney Tours Historic Sites in Galena
Last week I had an opportunity to join area lawmakers and Aaron Annable, Canadian Consul General, for a tour of historic sites in Galena. We visited (L to R in the photo collage) the home of Ulysses S. Grant, the Elihu Washburn Home, and Old Market House. In the last photo we were also joined by David Seagraves, who sculpted the busts of the nine Civil War generals from Galena. It was a wonderful experience and we are very fortunate to have such rich pieces of history located right here in the 45th District.
