Senator Andrew Chesney Launches 2nd Annual “Valentines for Seniors” Card Drive

With the arrival of the new year in Illinois, State Senator Andrew Chesney (R-Freeport) is once again sponsoring a “Valentines for Seniors” card drive. To brighten the days of seniors and ensure they know they are a valued part of the community, Senator Chesney is asking students from public and private schools, church groups, scouting organizations, and other groups to create homemade cards and drawings that will be delivered to assisted living centers, nursing homes, and long-term care facilities across the 45th Senate District during the week of Valentine’s Day.

“The response to this program last year exceeded all expectations and we were able to drop off thousands of well-wishes at locations across the seven counties that comprise the 45th District,” said Chesney. “The smiles on the seniors’ faces were priceless and the cards made them feel appreciated.”

Cards and drawings can be dropped off or mailed between now and February 7 to the Senator’s Freeport office from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

“Loneliness can be a real issue for the elderly, so it’s nice to bring them some joy so they know we’re thinking of them,” said Chesney.
