Chesney to Host Three Tollway IPASS on Demand Events
In an effort to help motorists update their IPASS technology to the new stickers that are replacing plastic transponders, my staff and I are in the process of organizing three IPASS on Demand events that will be held prior to the end of the year. Please mark your calendars for the event closest to you:
- November 7 in Rockton: American Legion, 221 West Main Street (Co-host- Rockton Mayor John Peterson)
- December 3 in Machesney Park: Village Hall, 300 Roosevelt Road (Co-host- Machesney Park Mayor Steve Johnson)
- December 16 in Kirkland: Resource Bank, 414 Main Street (Co-host- Kirkland Village President Ryan Block)
All events will take place from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM.
Officials from the Illinois Tollway will be on hand at these events to help people transfer over to the new sticker technology and ensure people can make the switch without disruption to their IPASS account activity. Along with providing this service, the tollway officials can help people with questions they may have about their IPASS account and with ‘Pay by Plate’ issues.
Once activated, the sticker tag can be used on the Illinois tollway and on E-Z Pass roadways in other states within 24 hours of activation. There is no deposit required for the sticker and the $10 transponder deposit that was paid when a transponder was purchased will transfer to the new account when it is activated. Plastic IPASS transponders will continue to work and will not expire until the date listed on the unit.
Senator Chesney to Host Annual Pet Adoption Event on December 14
I will be partnering with the Friends Forever Humane Society in Freeport for a Pet Adoption Event that will be held on December 14. As has been done in the past, I will help highlight animals that are available for adoption with hopes of connection people with new pets from the shelter.
Those who attend the event will be able to meet dogs and cats that are looking for forever homes and begin the adoption process. The event will take place on Dec. 14 at the Friends Forever Humane Society, 966 A. Rudy Road in Freeport from Noon until 2:30 PM. Chesney Visits with Arc Representatives
I recently had an opportunity to meet and talk with representatives of The Arc in Winnebago, Boone and Ogle Counties. We discussed concerns regarding individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities as well as the services The Arc provides. I am pictured here with self-advocates Linda Conness and Mary Mathis, and Executive Director Amy Newell.
The Arc is the largest national community-based organization advocating for and with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), with more than 600 chapters nationwide. The Arc works tirelessly to uphold its vision that every individual and family living with IDD has access to the information, advocacy, and skills they need to support full participation in their communities throughout their lifetimes.
